During my recent holidays I came across this interesting looking tree. I’d like to refer to it as the ‘thong tree’.  I know that many of my American friends will probably be thinking of something completely different when I say ‘thong tree’ but in Australia the term thong refers to what Americans call a flip flop.

Thongs or flip flops or however like you to call them are considered an Australian ‘icon’ since they are typically what you wear all summer long.

I think it’s a very Aussie kind of tree :)

Just in case if you were wondering the tree is located at a place called Coalcliff, which is just south of Sydney in New South Wales, Australia.
